About TimeHalf

TimeHalf is a free, open overtime pay calculator built to help workers understand exactly what they should be earning. Overtime laws vary significantly from state to state, and most people have no idea what rules apply to them. We built TimeHalf to fix that.

Why We Built This

Every year, billions of dollars in overtime pay go unclaimed because workers don't know their rights. California has daily overtime rules. Alaska has both daily and weekly thresholds. Nevada has a wage-based conditional system. Most states follow federal rules, but not all. Understanding these differences matters because it directly affects your paycheck.

How It Works

Select your state, enter your hourly rate, and input your hours for each day of the week. TimeHalf automatically applies the correct overtime rules for your state, including daily overtime, double time, 7th consecutive day rules, and weekly overtime thresholds. Results update in real time as you type.

Data Accuracy

All overtime rules are sourced directly from state labor department websites and the US Department of Labor. Each state's data includes the source URL and a "last verified" date so you can check our work. Overtime laws change, so we regularly review and update our data. If you spot an error, please let us know.

Important Disclaimer

TimeHalf is an educational tool. It provides estimates based on published overtime rules, but overtime eligibility depends on many factors including your exemption status, industry, collective bargaining agreements, and specific employer policies. This calculator is not a substitute for legal advice. For questions about your specific situation, contact your state labor department or a qualified employment attorney.
